Hello everybody. I’m very pleased to welcome you to our Cheltenham day 1 tips blog. We are expecting a very good festival this year, just like others in the past!! Last year saw a very good year for the punters with a lot of the expected winners holding true. This year may well be a different story with a lot of big name horses missing, offering a more open field in most races.
We hope to keep you informed throughout Twitter on which horse we are fancying for each race as the latest news develops, but here is where our thoughts are as the horses start to get declared. From previous experience no horse is a certain to start and horses you expect to feature can often let you down so our first recommendation is that if you are looking to back a horse early doors, back it on a non-runner no bet basis.
Cheltenham day 1 tips 2017
Supreme Novices Hurdle – 13:30
TO WIN – MELON (4/1)
EACH WAY – HIGH BRIDGE (16/1)
With Moon Racer looking set for the Champion Hurdle, I feel like Melon will be first past the post here. Unproven, yes, but in the same breath has done what has been asked so far and Mullins will be desperate to get the festival off to a good start, giving me confidence the horse is in good condition.
Arkle trophy – 14:10
TO WIN – ALTIOR (2/7)
EACH WAY – FOREST BIHAN (25/1)
Paddy Power Offer for Every first Cheltenham festival race.
Paddy Power have a superb offer on that applies to every first race each day of the Cheltenham festival, especially if you fancy going for an outsider. Paddy Power will refund all losing bets if your horse finishes second. A fantastic offer giving you the chance to back something with large odds knowing that if the favourite does win, you will be getting your money back. If you don’t already have an account you can also get £30 of free bets when you register and place your first £10 bet.
Ultima Handicap Chase – 14:50
TO WIN – LABEL DES OBEAUX (18/1)
EACH WAY – PILGRIMS BAY (25/1)
The first handicap race of the festival. 3 miles and 19 fences to tackle in this race, which is run round the old course. This race holds a lot of prestige and winners of this race normally go on to bigger and better things.
Champion Hurdle – 15:30
TO WIN – BUVEUR D’AIR (11/2)
EACH WAY – THE NEW ONE (14/1)

Some of the offers available leading up to the festival are;
