Russia v Denmark Match Preview & Trends

Russia on the brink of qualification

After beating Finland in round 2 it is now between them and the Russians for a place behind likely group winners Belgium in Group B. Russia will be hoping the Belgians show no mercy when they take on the Finns but know that they will have to perform against a wounded Danish side regardless of the score in the other game.

Denmark, still reeling from the shock of the sad circumstances that saw star player Christian Eriksen taken ill on the field in their opening round match, will want to end the tournament well. The players no doubt have their hospitalized teammate on their minds and can be forgiven the severe distraction from their on-field performances despite the latest reports saying that Eriksen is making good progress.

Russia covered 234.5km in the opening two rounds and have maintained a passing accuracy of 80% and averaging 47% possession. The Russians have made 73 passes into the attacking third with 40 of those in key areas. They have completed 12/40 crosses, which left them at 30%. In comparison, Denmark has covered 215.2km in the first two games, maintaining a passing accuracy of 85% and averaged 56% possession. The Danes made 106 passes into the attacking third with 60 of those in key areas. They completed 16/52 crosses leaving them with a 31% average.
