It’s game 3 time with the scores level at 1-1 this is set to be a close encounter. The Hawks started with a win but the 76ers fought back to tie the series so far.
Doc Rivers outsmarted the Hawks in game 2 moving Ben Simmons to counteract Trae Young after Danny Green failed to keep Young in check during game 1. Young scored 25 with 7 assists in game 1 which left the 76ers with too much to do to win the match. The switch made Young less effective although he did still top-score with 21 points.
It will be interesting to see if Rivers sticks to this plan in game 3 or switches it up again to keep Young on his toes.

Sixers @ Hawks preview and prediction
The money odds are tight for this one and it’s a tricky match to call. The points line stats are pointing to under.
Based on the stats whoever wins is likely to cover the spread, mainly because it’s a 1 point spread!
The Sixers were massively improved in the last game and they should continue that trend if they keep up the impressive transition stats. The Sixers improved their transition points per 100mpossiesions to 8.7 in game 2, compared to 1.9 in game 1 (Via Cleaning the glass).
Shake Milton really stepped up from the bench in game 2 to drop 14 points in 14 minutes of play. This helped them go on a 14-0 run in the 4th quarter to seal the win comfortably.
Joel Embiid’s performance was another high light dropping a career-best 40 points in the game. He will play a big role in tonight’s game if he can drop another 40 point game.
Where they can improve further in this match is from the free-throw line, in-game 2 they hit just 14 of 22, a very poor return. They also need to improve on their rebound rates after losing the rebound match up 37-45 in game 2.
Whilst the game 2 win was a good moment for them there are still a number of questions about the team ahead of this match. The bench needs to set up earlier after they scored 0 points until halfway through the 3rd quarter. As a comparison, the Hawks bench had dropped 37 points in that time.
Atlanta Hawks Preview
After a great start in game 1, the Hawks will be kicking themselves for not making it 2-0. They let the game slip away from them in the 3rd and 4th quarters. The fourth was particularly bad losing 28-18 after the 76ers went on a 14-0 run after the game was as good as over.
They’ll need to work to stop Joel Embiid from scoring so freely. They’ll also need to reduce the 17 turnovers from the last match.
Trea Young is still the Hawks MVP and he will need to bring his A-game to the court on Friday night. The performance of Young v the performance of Embiid will be the key match-up for how this game goes.
This is a key game for the Hawks to stop the Sixers from stealing home-court advantage and putting themselves in the driving seat to make the finals.
