FA Cup final predictions

Welcome to my FA Cup Final predictions blog. The FA Cup is still seen as the pinnacle domestic cup in England and this year Manchester United and Chelsea will battle out in the final for this prestigious crown. This is the last hope of silverware for both teams this season and as such, it should be a feisty and competitive affair.

Here I will be sharing my own personal FA Cup final predictions as well as outlining value odds that I have spotted on part of my research. If you are interested in placing a bet on the big match, you can check out our top rated betting apps here.

FA Cup final predictions

There isn’t much in the odds for either team to win or for the draw. Manchester United are very slightly shorter in the odds and at time of writing odds were around the following areas

  • Chelsea win 9/5 (2.9)*
  • Manchester United win 19/10 (2.8)*
  • Draw 21/10 (3.1)*

Looking back at the last games of the season, it makes sense in my eyes for Manchester United to be favourites. They finished higher in the league and proved to outwit Man City, Spurs and Arsenal despite playing unattractive football that failed to have the same impact on the lower ranked teams in the league.

Chelsea also saw some good wins late in the season over Liverpool and Burnley, but with them failing to gain points when they needed to in their last two games, I can’t see them having enough heart here to pull off the win.

With Manchester United playing a lot of unattractive football this season it’s fair to assume this will not be a goal-fest. Mourinho’s strategy of wearing down the opponent rather than destroying them has seen a lot of 0-0 scoreline come the half time whistle. 0-0 at half time is currently around 11/8*.

The markets here aren’t showing much value so those who are looking to add a little more juice to their bet may want to consider the extra time markets. Extra time is a likely outcome to those who do not see many goals in the game like me.

  • Either team to win in extra time 5/1*
  • Manchester United to win in extra time 10/1*
  • Chelsea to win in extra time 11/1*

I don’t fancy the game to go to penalties personally. I do see extra time being viable but if that is the case I see tired and weary legs conceding goals. Those that do fancy penalties can get odds around the following

  • Either team on penalties 9/2 (5.5)
  • Manchester United to win on penalties 10/1
  • Chelsea to win on penalties 10/1

My personal FA Cup final predictions are that the game will be a fairly dull low scoring match with 90 minutes returning either a 0-0 or 1-1 outcome to bring the match in to extra time. I see United being the fresher of the two sides in extra time and stealing a late goal to secure the trophy. The Man United to win in extra time at 10/1 is where my money will be.
