Welcome to our Grand National betting tips blog. The Grand National brings about bets from all walks of life. This race does not attract bets from just the professional gambler and the horse racing fan. Pretty much, the whole country gets involved in having a little flutter.
This is by far the most popular horse race of the year and is renowned for being almost impossible to accurately predict. In the last ten years, only two favourites have gone on to cross the finish line first. (Hedgehunter and Don’t Push It). Even if you were to just go with the favourite, you would still see fairly long odds. Check out the horses I will be including in my very own bets below.
GRAND NATIONAL BETTING TIPS – MY SELECTIONS
This horse comes in as joint favourite and although I have previously mentioned it has shown to be rare for the favourite to win this race, it’s difficult to ignore the stats that sit behind it. Definitly Red has shown to be the most consistent horse in the pack and has sported 4 wins from its last 7 outings.
BEST ODDS ON DEFINITLY RED = 11/1 WITH *
THE LAST SAMURI
I really like the look of this horse. He has been jumping fantastically, looks comfortable in a pack and has shown explosive finishing power when needed. He comes in to this race on the back of quite a disappointing run, but this horse has good experience in this race. The Last Samuri was last year’s Grand National runner-up and will be looking to go one better this year.
BEST ODDS ON THE LAST SAMURI = 14/1 WITH SKY BET*
VIEUX LION ROUGE
This horse is also a joint favourite. Definitly Red may well boast the most consistent, but Vieux Lion Rouge holds the best current form, winning both of its last two races. This horse beat Blaklion in the trials recently, has eleven total wins to its name and has previous Grand National experience inasmuch as it finished seventh last year.
BEST ODDS ON VIEUX LION ROUGE = 11/1 WITH LADBROKES*
A good value bet in my opinion with a horse that also has impressive current form. Two wins and a second place coming from the last three races. Decent odds here may be reflected in the fact this horse pulled up in last years race, but you would hope the horse and trainer have reviewed this mistake and have put relevant actions in over the year to perform more confidently this time around. Jockey Katie Walsh has recently announced she is feeling 100% After being unseated in the Foxhunters’ Chase and will be looking to better her personal best here back in 2012 when she finished third on Seabass.
BEST ODDS ON WONDERFUL CHARM = 33/1 WITH BETFRED*
GAS LINE BOY
Here is my outside each way bet and the last selection in my grand National betting tips. At odds of around 80/1 you can still expect a good return even if this horse places. William Hill are offering the best odds here and are also offering five places so this is where I will be backing it. This horse has finished in the top four in the last nine races where the horse has finished. It has shown a tendency to misbehave here and there but if this horse can make it to the finish line with the jockey still on its back, it has a very good chance of placing in my opinion.
BEST ODDS ON GAS LINE BOY = 80/1 WITH WILLIAM HILL*
