NBA Betting markets explained
Here’s a quick guide to the NBA betting markets we make our picks from. There are more markets than this on offer with the main sports books, there are just our preferred value markets.
Simple market – Which team will win the game. The odds are weighted for who the bookmakers think are the favorites for the game and go as high as +1000 when the Golden State Warriors are concerned. There are a couple of options on the moneyline with some sports books as shown below
The top money line is a straight win or lose bet.
To go into overtime – The most bonkers bet of all – I have no way of knowing how to predict these game – props to you if you get a winner on this one!
Double chance – This is a safety option covering 2 outcomes to win.
- X2 – The draw and the away team win
- 12 – The home team or away team to win (no overtime)
- 1X – The home team or draw
These bets are all settled on the result at the end of the 4th quarter.
This is the match result plus an extra line bet (Parlay is multiple bets) – usually the total match points market (Ie 100 v 101 final result is 201 points). The amount of points moves depending on whos playing so it’s always worth checking out if you’re thinking it is going to be a high or low scoring game.
This is set at a different level depending on which teams are playing. This does not matter who wins or loses just the total points for the game. This is also settled on the score at the end of the 4th quarter and does not include overtime.
