Why we recommend the Sugar House App
The Play Sugar House Brand is an established casino in the State of Philadelphia and now has a license to operate legally in New Jersey. Via their mobile app, they offer full sports betting allowing you to bet pre-match as well as in play. There’s also a full casino as part of the app which has a wide range of slots, table games and of course roulette.
Their app is excellent and has all the days games on the home page. If you like betting on major events you’ll always find them as soon as you open the app. You can navigate to other sports on the menu in the top left where you’ll find a wide range of sports and betting markets.
Here are some shots of the app

The app now has some excellent boosted odds every day. Head to the sports section and then to “Odds boost specials” and you will find that day’s selections. These seem to vary across sports and we’ve seen them for Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, and Hockey.
What’s great about this app is the built-in casino along with the sportsbook. As you can see from the screenshots above they have a range of casino games and live dealer casinos built-in.

Betting Apps in NJ – Our Guide
So now you’ve found and registered with one of our top-rated betting apps you may want to know what to do next, so we’ve put together this simple guide on how to bet.
How to place your first wager in New Jersey
You may be wondering how to place your sports bets for the first time, but no need to worry – it’s really simple to do. We’ll use our top-rated app, Sugar House, as our example and talk you through it step by step. For this example I’m going to have a bet on my team, the NY Jets to win at JAX Jaguars on the money line. The money line is weighted to who the bookies think are the favorites, in this case, the Jaguars.
Step one
We’ll assume you’ve registered with sugar house, if not you can register here to get the bonus – use code “250MATCH” for a 100% bonus up to $250.
Step Two
Now open the iPhone app, Android app or visit playsugarhouse.com on your mobile browser. Then tap the menu button from the home page as shown below.

Step Three
Once on the sportsbook homepage tap “more sports” in the blue bar at the top to get the list of current sports and events you can bet on. As shown below.

Step Four
Now you’re on the NFL games scroll down to find the game you’re looking for. They usually show odds for games unto a week in advance. You can tap the money line odds straight from here or go into the game and tap the odds to add the NY Jets to win to your bet slip.

Step Five
You are now taken straight to the bet slip where you can back the bet. Simply put the amount you want to bet in the white box and the “place bet” button will go green ready for you to tap when you are happy. Be aware the amount you enter in the white box is the amount you are betting and the amount you will lose if your bet loses.

Placing your first parlay bet
Similar to the steps above, here’s how to place a Parlay bet on your mobile in New Jersey. Again we’ll use Sugar House as our example site and assume you’ve already registered your account and deposited some dollars in! Follow down to step 4.
What you need to do for a parley bet or other options is add multiple results. For this example, I’m backing the Jets to win again but I’m also adding the Patriots to beat the Miami Dolphins.
I’ve followed to step four above and now I need to add in the Dolphins win. From the bet slip, I need to tap the down arrow as shown below to get back to the list of games, this will keep the Jets in my bet slip.

Physical locations in New Jersey where you can bet
As well as on your computer or mobile anywhere in the state, there are 8 locations where you can bet in either the casino or on the track. Here’s where they are
- Harrah’s – Atlantic City
- Golden Nugget – Atlantic City (You cannot bet on NBA here as its owned by Tilman Fertitta who also owns the Houston Rockets)
- Ocean Resort Casino – Atlantic City
- Bally’s – Atlantic City
- Borgata Hotel and Casino – Atlantic City
- The meadowland racetrack – East Rutherford
- Monmouth Park Race Track – Ocean Port
- Resorts casino and sportsbook – Atlantic City
These physical locations have mostly teamed up with other partners to offer online gambling.
Deposit/ Withdrawal Options
With all the main sports betting sites we have covered there is a wide range of options for depositing into your account. These include
- Visa
- MasterCard
- PayPal
- E-Wallet (Netteler – Skrill)
- Apple Pay (Where i0s apps are available)
When it comes to withdrawal you will have to withdraw the money back on to the option that you deposited from. For example, if you deposit using your Visa card you have to withdraw back to your Visa card. This is for money laundering reasons.
Outside New Jersey?
If you are not a resident of NJ then you are not able to use any of these apps, even if you’re just across the state lines. When you register you have to put your address in and verify this to your card.
If you live in New Jersey and go to another state and want to bet you can do. You will have to do this via your mobile browser rather than a native app though as the app will be blocked outside the state.
What is the most popular betting app in New Jersey?
Whilst we rate the apps on our opinion the revenue numbers that are published monthly show a different picture for NJ betting. It is no surprise that established fantasy sports brands Fan Duel and Draft Kings lead the market. These two companies already have a customer base of fantasy players that have converted to real money bets. They are also well-known names among US-based sports fans compared to the more European sportsbooks, such as William Hill.
Revenue per company (monthly)
- Fan Duel $8.8m
- Draft Kings $4.8m
- Sugarhouse $1.8m (including Monmouth park revenue)
- William Hill US $1m
