How To Download Play Store Betting Apps
Downloading a betting app from the Google Play Store is just like downloading any other Android app, but there are a few things you'll need to do before you're fully up and running.
There are quite a few things to consider when picking the betting app you want to use, including live betting features, payment methods, sport markets and more.
Once you've had a chance to read through a review or two and know which app is right for you, it's time to get started by hitting one of the green buttons to get sent over to the site!
Once you've landed on the betting app site, it's time to set up your account and get registered.
This is a straightforward process, and you just need to provide some of the following details:
- Password
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Occupation
- Employer
- Government ID
We usually recommend signing up before downloading the app because it streamlines the process of setting up your quick log-in, like fingerprint authentication, and helps you get going quicker.
Once you've done all the 'hard' parts, you can just head on over to the Play Store and download the app!
- If you're looking for Bet365 for example, just search 'bet365' and you'll find it right away!
Most betting apps even feature a direct link to the google play store right from the website, usually located right at the bottom of the page.
This is what the general app screenshots on the play store will look like
Download Betting Apps Not on the Play Store
Fortunately, this is not a common problem in Canada, as sportsbooks know featuring their betting apps on the Play Store is the easiest way to facilitate downloads. If you can't find the betting app you're looking for, it is generally one of these two reasons:
- You need to download the APK
- The developer has not built an Android app
There are only few betting apps right now that are not on the Play Stor, and only Betway is pushing for an APK download.
Again it's generally easier to set up your account on the web browser before you download here, but once you've done that it's a nice and easy process.
We're using Betway as the example, but the download process is virtually identical for any APK.
- Just navigate to the Android download page
- Hit 'download sports app'
- Confirm the download and you'll be good to go - it's that easy!
If you're struggling, betway has even placed a how to video directly under the download button to show you how.
Android Betting Apps with no App?
There was a period of time when certain companies shifted away from building dedicated apps for cost-saving reasons, but as mobile app technology has improved the speed and functionality of native apps has far outpaced these web-browser versions.
- Royal Panda
The above betting apps are the only two legal and licensed sportsbooks in Canada that don't have dedicated apps, but that doesn't mean you can't find a solution to using the betting 'app' easily.
Add a shortcut to your home screen
If the betting app has been built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), then you have the chance to add a shortcut directly to your home screen to make getting back to the sportsbook very quick.
All you need to do is:
- tap the three dots on your mobile broswer
- select 'add to home'
- confirm
Once you do this a little app icon will show up and you can tap that to head right back to the browser. It's similar to bookmarking a page, but even more accesible.
Bookmark the Webpage
If there is no app or even a PWA to access, then the best solution is to just bookmark the page on your preferred browser.
The only app we've listed right now that doesn't have anything is Royal Panda. This is still a great sportsbook and casino, and it runs remarkably well on a mobile browser.
Betting Apps with Google Pay
A great part of using an android betting app is the opportunity to use Google Pay when wagering. Sadly there are not many sites that actually have this as a payment method, but if you're really interested in using Google Pay, check out these Android betting apps:
- UniBet
- BetMGM
Bet356 and betway have recently begun accepting Google Pay in other countries, so expect them to join this list soon.
Google Play Betting App FAQ
Sadly no betting apps in Canada accept Google Play credit.
This is to do with strict financial regulations that help provide security to users and is part of what allows a betting app to become licensed in Canada.
We only review legal and licensed apps, so you can rest assured that the payment methods they accept are all above board and safe.
Yes! Since the start of March 2021, Google has allowed real money gambling apps to be published and downloaded from the Play Store.
We have a list of all the legal and licensed betting apps you can download on an Android, and how to download a betting app not on the Play Store.
Sometimes - there are not too many betting apps that allow Google Pay right now, but we've seen more and more launching Apple Pay, so the Android counterpart will certainly be on the list pf payment methods being added.
Since the start of March, 2021, Google has allowed developers to publish gambling apps on the Play Store. This came with some additional requirements for user safety and security:
- Apps must comply with all applicable laws and industry standards for each country in which it is distributed
- Developers must have a valid gambling license for each country or state/territory in which the app is distributed
Betting Apps on the Google Play Store - a quick rundown
The good news is that betting apps are allowed on the Google Play Store, the better news is that almost all betting apps in Canada have published their sportsbook there. It's incredibly easy to get started betting on an Android device:
- Sign up for a betting app
- Download from the Play Store (or through an APK)
- Start betting!
For the odd sports betting app not on the Play Store, you can still bookmark the page and add a shortcut to your home screen to make it easy to access.
