Betting Apps for iPhone - Features and Facts
iPhone Real Money Gambling
Real money gambling apps have been allowed for iPhones in Canada for a while now, and are featured on the App Store in the native iOS language. Because they are more regulated through Apple's own store, you can be sure they are all operating above board and with the best security out there.
Where are the iPhone Betting Bonuses?
You've probably noticed the lack of bonuses displayed on this page, but unfortunately, this is due to legal regulations in Canada that prohibit our showcasing bonus and promotional offers from betting apps.
What we have done is review and rank the best betting apps in Canada for iPhone so you can get a feel for what they have to offer, then, just hit one of the green buttons to see for yourself!
Best iPhone Betting App This Month
BetMGM has absolutely made an impact in the Canadian sports betting market, and their numerous payment methods, live streaming selection, and impressive parlay betting feature helped give them the nod for this month's featured spot.
If their growth in the US is anything to go by, this betting app will give tons of value to iPhone users for a long time to come.
iPhone Betting Apps FAQ
There are a ton of options to choose from for iPhone betting apps, and a lot of questions surrounding the topic of sports betting in Canada - these are some of the most common questions.
It's hard to really define what would make a particular betting app the best, but based on some of the main aspects we look for in a betting app, these are our top iPhone betting apps in Canada right now:
Yes you can!
It depends on the betting app you use of course as it's not a feature everywhere, but our favorite live streaming choices for iOS are:
- Bet365
- BetMGM
- Unibet
- BetRivers
Certainly one of the perks of using an iPhone for sports betting in Canada, all of the legal and licensed betting apps we feature are available to download directly from the App Store!
They are, and it is the only place you can download betting apps.
This is actually a good thing, however, as Apple mandated that betting apps must be native to the iOS language, so all of the security benefits and smooth app functionality are in place for iPhone and iPad.
iPhone Betting Apps - Optimised for Mobile
Even though sports betting is still fairly new in Canada (at least for fully regulated betting apps), most sportsbooks have really prioritised their iOS users. This makes sense given that well over 50% of Canadian smartphone users have an iPhone.
But what makes this even more pronounced is that Apple has added regulations to their App Store that asks for all gambling apps to be built in the native iOS language, which allows them to run smoother and faster on phones.

How to Download iPhone Betting Apps
Clearly the first step to downloading an iOS betting app is to pick which one you think will be best for you (or get an iPhone if you're not even there).
There are lot of things to consider when choosing the right betting app for you, but we've put together some handy little reviews to help. Think about some of these things:
- What the betting app offers (sports, features, etc.)
- How well it runs on mobile
- Ease of use
Once you've decided on a betting app you want to try out, just hit one of the green buttons to get sent over and started!
After getting sent through to the iPhone betting app of your choice, you'll just have to sign up and register your details before getting started betting.
This is a very straightforward process, but we think it can be a bit easier to do this first on the site or even on the desktop as you may be prompted to upload a file or picture.
Here is an example of some of the details you'll be asked for:
- Password
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Occupation
- Employer
- Government ID
It's finally time to get to the actual download phase. And here is where it gets even easier for iPhone users:
All you need to do is head to the App Store on your device and search for the betting app. For example, if you want to give Caesars Sportsbook a try, just type in 'caesars sportsbook' and the Canadian version of the app will pop up. Then it's as simple as pressing 'get'.
Because you (maybe) signed up earlier if you followed these steps, once the icon pops up on your home screen you can just enter the login details and you'll be good to go!
iPhone Betting Apps Not on the App Store
The good news is that most betting apps are featured on the App Store, but you can occasionally run into one that hasn't launched a mobile app yet that you still want to try out.
If this is the case, here are a couple of tips to make using the web browser version of the betting app easy on an iPhone.
- Add a Shortcut for a PWA
If the betting app has been built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), then you have the chance to add a shortcut directly to your home screen to make getting back to the sportsbook very quick.
All you need to do is:
- navigate to the betting site
- select 'add to home'
- confirm the shortcut
Once you do this a little app icon will show up and you can tap that to head right back to the browser. It's similar to bookmarking a page, but even more accessible.
- Bookmark the Page
If there is no app or even a PWA to access, then the best solution is to just bookmark the page on your preferred broswer.
The only app we've listed right now that doesn't have anything is Royal Panda. This is still a great sportsbook and casino, and it runs remarkably well on a mobile browser.
iPhone Betting Apps - What Makes Them Good or Bad (or Ugly)
There are a lot of iPhone betting apps in Canada, and we want to make sure you can find the one that suits exactly what you're looking for. Some betting apps excel in delivering great parlay betting, others have really focused on providing as many live streams of events as possible, and some let you move your money around particularly well. Below are some key highlights for our top picks, and a few areas that could still use some attention.
Caesars Sportsbook iPhone
Yes, the Emperor uses an iPhone. And taking into account the functionality and features of this betting app, we think it takes the top spot in Canada for iOS betting apps.
There was clearly a lot of time put into the actual design of the app, and we don't just mean aesthetically, it's a very easy app to navigate and understand even without much betting experience. If you enjoy betting on a bunch of different sports, then the pretty much daily updates for different ways to bet will suit you. If you're a strict one sport bettor, you may not feel that you get quite as much love here, but on, the whole this is about as good as it gets.
Naturally, there is always the occasional bug here and there, but our biggest gripe right now is the lack of live streaming, and poor selection of payment options. While the rest of the features are generally top tier, these are areas Caesars needs to improve on quickly to stay at the top.
Caesars Sportsbook Canada Reviews
13 June, 2022 (4/5 Stars) - Caesars is great! Very impressed with their sportsbook so far. They have tight lines and a large variety of markets to wager on. The mobile app is designed well and is easy to use/navigate.
15 June, 2022 (1/5 Stars) - I had high hopes for this book and tried to sign up. I had horrible experience signing up and was suspended/locked out before I even made a deposit. Spoke to customer service and they advised it would take time to fix. I sent in all the docs and waited… and waited.. never heard back. Finally I decided to try logging in again and surprisingly I was able to. By that time wasn’t sure if my first deposit promo would still work. Contacted customer service and they advised that it’s been too long and it’s no longer available for me lol. Wow… I’m a player who has been very diligent and trying to be patient.. sucks to be me. Thankfully lots of other books in Ontario now so thanks for nothing.
20 June, 2022 (5/5 Stars) -Decent so far
PointsBet iPhone
When considering the innovative new ways PointsBet has expanded its betting features it's hard not to think about how they have seriously optimized their system to work as an app. When using something like Points Betting or a partial cash out, the simple addition of a slider just makes the usability feel natural when on a iPhone, not to mention the jump in speed on an iOS app versus a browser.
Another good selling point for why we've rated this app so highly is the active stance they have for updating the app. While it may seem minor, the consistent improvements on speed, geo location accuracy, and additions of new features like NBA live same game parlays keep the app fresh even if you've been using it for some time.
PointsBet Canada Reviews
06 April, 2022 (5/5 Stars) - Best App For Ontario. Love the variety of bets and markets. The app is super quick too. Really enjoying the experience of the app 👍🏼
12 April, 2022 (5/5 Stars) - Have had a great experience with this app. Easy to find and place bets with a couple clicks and can quickly get into the app with pin vs having to wait for password.
17 May, 2022 (1/5 Stars) - Heard this new book was coming to Ontario, decided to give it a try. I was impressed by how fast the bet was able to be placed on the first 2 That i placed. After that, they limited my wagering, and now every time I try to make a live sports wager, it takes minimum 20-30seconds to spin in which is absolutely terrible. Find a better book.
BetMGM iPhone
As the self-proclaimed 'king' of parlays, this first question to ask is are the parlay betting features actually any good? We certainly think so, and they help push this iPhone app to be one of the best out there.
As far as the look and feel of the app, we can't find too much fault generally, and there are even a few options for live streaming. Unfortunately, there are a few times the app does feel a little slow, but it didn't really impact our live betting significantly so we can't critique this much when the functionality is still there. That being said, these minor UX faults can start to be noticed after a while, and should be addressed given the popularity of BetMGM.
While the app runs quite well on newer models of iPhone, you do need to have iOS version 13.0 or later to actually use the app, which may be a barrier to some, and unfortunately makes this one of the more technically restrictive betting apps for iOS

23 April, 2022 (5/5 Stars) - Best thing to happen in Ontario.
23 May, 2022 (2/5 Stars) - Easily the slowest withdrawal times out of Al the gaming apps in Ontario right now. Most apps take <24 hours, if not <6 hours. I’ve been waiting 48+ hours, no sign of my money. Most apps are all pretty much the same, but this one does feel a little bit clunky too.
12 May, 2022 (3/5 Starts) - The app works, but it’s slow and has strange quirks. Like logging you out after 20 minutes. Which would be fine if the Face ID worked consistently. Most of the time I have to hard close the app and reopen to trigger the Face ID to log me back in.
FanDuel Sportsbook iPhone
FanDuel is most well known as a DFS giant, but they made a seamless shift into sports betting and haven't looked back. We think their betting app is absolutely one of the best in Canada, in no small part to the ease in which we were able to go from signing up to placing a bet.
The app is packed with features and has a ton of betting options, with one of the deepest player prop listings out there. If we had a complaint about the iOS app at all it would be the odds, which tend to be a little better elsewhere, but the usability and ease of FanDuel certainly make up for this if you aren't looking to run with tons of bets all with minor payouts.
If the casino is more up your alley, then the FanDuel casino is really nothing to turn your nose up at. There are tons of games to play, and having it all on one account makes it so much easier to swap between the two.
FanDuel Sportsbook Canada Reviews
25 May, 2022 (2/5 Stars) - Crashes many times location errors booth you out as well play on many different apps without so many issues
24 May, 2022 (1/5 Stars) - I like the website. I like the set up I like the games. However, every five minutes there is an issue. Giant pain
07 April, 2022 (1/5 Stars) - App keeps refreshing and logging me out for no reason. I can’t even make a slip
In the effort of transparency, these reviews do not reflect our experience with the FanDuel Sportsbook Canada app, as our rating is very close to the overall 4.6 Star rank on the App Store. We recognize that many people who leave reviews offer negative insight rather than positive, as we have seen with FanDuel.
Bet365 iPhone
Without a doubt one of the biggest global sports betting apps, bet365 has been in Canada for a while now, but only recently began properly operating in Ontario following the legal approval in the province.
The whole process for getting on the app and signed up is nice and easy, and the smooth use does continues, albeit with a pretty underwhelming-looking app. If you can look past a bland design and really focus on the quality features and excellent live betting, you will absolutely enjoy the app. It runs quickly on iOS devices and boasts the biggest variety of live streaming through the app.
Even though Bet365 has some of the most competitive odds on the market, we just hope they work through some of the interface monotony to really get users excited about the great features they offer.
Bet365 Canada Reviews
12 May, 2022 (1/5 Stars) - New Canadian Version Is Horrible. You guys need to fix all these bugs the app has if you care at all… its ridiculous now. Literally every single day the app crashes there a new issue to deal with. Ive never seen this many problems and nothing done about it. It’s gotten to the point where I’m use to it now. Randomly my bets will disappear and won’t show unless I shut the app down. All the live bets aren’t being able to be viewed I have to shut the whole app down just to fix it. There’s way too many problems I may just switch to something else cause you guys clearly don’t care to fix the issue. 1 star isn’t even good enough wish I could give a half
30 April, 2022 (5/5 Stars) - I don’t know what’s wrong with people and rating 1 star but there is no any other app which gives early payout option. And wide betting options in soccers. I love Bet365.
03 July, 2022 (2/5 Stars) -This app has been horrible since implementing the Ontario version. Continuously cannot confirm my location when I am 100% in Ontario not near a border. Please correct this issue.
DraftKings Sportsbook iPhone
Known mostly for Daily Fantasy Sports, DraftKings has exploded onto the online sports betting scene and is finally available in Canada. And their brilliant DFS app has translated very well to an incredibly smooth and deep iPhone betting app.
Having a shared sportsbook and DFS wallet is a great feature, making the transition between sports betting, casino gambling, and fantasy sports a breeze. Plus the navigation and aesthetic 'dark' theme of the app makes the UX excellent. All of the major sports and betting features are easy to find, though sometimes the betting can be a bit laggy - though nothing debilitating that we noted.
DraftKings Sportsbook Canada Reviews
08 June, 2020 (4/5 Stars) - I love the way you’ve designed the app and love the SportsBook progress but I think there needs to be some more spend or focus on the engineering and functionality aspects of the app. It took me 4 times to deposit money for the first time because the app froze and I had to re-load and re sign-in. There may be customers that don’t have the patience to wait for that and you may lose those customers. App functionality is going to be so so important for establishing customer loyalty moving forward, especially in states that are just newly adopting legal gambling because this is where the majority of millennials will bet, on their iPhones.
Also this is just personal opinion, but I’d consider changing the design of the App Logo. The word DraftKings is too small and the light green is not a color that stands out, especially against the backdrop of a photo or different phone background. I’d use a bolder and darker Green with white lettering and black outlining. You want the consumer to be thinking about clicking your app every time they open their iPhone.
23 March, 2022 (3/5 Stars) - The app itself is relatively slow. The profit boosts are nice and unlike anything I’ve ever seen on any other app or site. So that’s a plus. The lag on placing bets etc is a bit annoying, but it’s understandable. The UI is nice and the social hub is a huge plus and extremely underrated.
24 February, 2022 (3/5 Stars) - I think the app could be greater than it is now. I do have the updated app and the highest speed internet Wi-Fi but this app lags a lot. Also there is a form of deception when betting on tennis. I bet on point by point basis mostly and there are several discrepancies I have like at the beginning of a match there is no option to bet on the the first point. Also if you don’t watch carefully it will do that or put the game that’s being played below the next game. You think you are betting on game 5 but it’s actually game 6. What’s messed up is you are trying to get your bet on so fast because it’s so slow processing the bets that you don’t want to have your bet rejected. I’ve probably had 85% of my winning bets rejected due to how slow this thing works. Sometimes I can log out and log back in to get it to function better. I like being able to bet on the tennis like this because other apps are not fully like this but I just don’t like the deception look and the lagging in bet processing!!! I’ve screenshot a lot of these things and hopefully people will avoid not being deceived…
Benefits of Using a Mobile Betting App
Even though it's become incredibly easy just to launch a browser and cruise the internet, there is actually quite a lot that goes into making a dedicated app a superior experience to just a browser.
We've listed the top three reasons below (Speed, Security, and Simplicity), but honestly, just the actual feel of a native iOS app is much better. Even minor details like not having the search bar or keeping your details stored are enough of a reason to jump into a betting app.
Speed
A lot of the time the actual speed of a sports betting app is linked to data connection and the age of your device, but on the whole, a dedicated mobile app is actually a bit faster to load pages and bring up scores since a big chunk of data is already stored on the phone.
A small aspect, but if your live betting on fast sports like hockey, every second counts.
Security
The log-in process is generally the same if you need to type in a password and your username, but when you download an iPhone app, you can often times opt to log in with Face ID or a fingerprint, making it a quicker and safer process, and you can store payment details.
With money on the line, you don't want to risk someone getting access and losing a bunch of wagers (or, you know, taking your money).
Simplicity
Let's be honest, the best part of having a mobile app is just how easy it is to not only access but also use. When betting on a mobile browser you'll always have your search bar visible, and little things like that not showing on an app just enhance the overall experience.
Unique iPhone Betting App Features
Face ID Betting Apps
Your account means your account, right? So why wouldn't you want the additional security, safety, and speed that a Face ID login can give you on iPhone.
If you've become accustomed to looking at the camera to unlock you phone, you'll be happy to know that a solid selection of Canadian betting apps work with Face ID.
- FanDuel Sportsbook
- DraftKings Sportsbook
- PointsBet
- Betway
- Bet365
- Unibet
Naturally, these are some of the biggest sportsbooks out there, but as the newer and smaller betting apps ramp up their features this list is sure to grow.
Apple Pay Betting Apps
Apple Pay has really helped to streamline payments and banking for iPhone users, and it's a really handy and self-contained way to bank on a betting app.
E-wallets in general get a bit thumbs up from us as they are generally the quickest and most secure way to move your funds around. Not only does Apple Pay maintain this quickness, but there is pretty robust security around Apple in general, and even though the betting apps we review are all legal and licensed, it's just another layer that adds to your peace of mind.
Which betting apps allow Apple Pay? There aren't too many right now, but here's where you can find this payment feature.
- Bet365
- BetMGM
- Unibet
iPad Betting Apps
You might be wondering if there is any issue with sports betting on an iPad - and we're happy to report there is no problem there!
Because Apple has insisted on apps being built in the native iOS language, the sports betting apps are available on iPad as well, and generally have the same software requirements as the iPad (11.0 or later for example).
If you're a fan of betting on the slightly bigger screen, then using an iPad is a good call. The features that many betting apps have added like sliders for your wager amount all feel great on an iPad as well, plus it makes live streaming a bit more enjoyable!
