Hard Rock Bet vs FanDuel & DraftKings
How Does Hard Rock Bet Stack Up?
In my quest to compare betting apps (using real tests such as live betting), I decided to do direct comparisons as well, pitting various sportsbooks against the giants of the industry. FanDuel & DraftKings make up most of the US market, and I wanted to find out if the others can outperform the top names.
Here, I am putting Hard Rock Bet to the test, comparing it in 6 key areas that we use to rate betting apps.
We'll be looking at:
- Bonus Offers
- Betting Variety
- Mobile Experience
- Payment Options
- Betting Experience
- Customer Support
The goal is to help users see if Hard Rock Bet could be another betting app worth trying, assuming most of you have already tried FanDuel and/or DraftKings.

Breakdown of Each Category
Let's dive into each of our 6 categories we rate betting apps by, and see which areas Hard Rock Bet outperforms FanDuel & DraftKings, and which ones the big two overpower it.
Bonus Offer(s)
For this comparison, I chose to look at daily/existing user promos rather than the welcome offer, because the welcome offers are constantly changing. Sometimes Hard Rock may offer a bigger sign-up bonus, and sometimes the others may. However, all 3 usually use a form of bet-and-get welcome offers, where you receive bonus bets after your first $5 wager.
Where Hard Rock Bet Stands Out:
- More daily profit boosts
- Profit boosts for non-major 4 sports
- Better rewards program (Legendary Reward Drops)
- Tier program offers more incentives the more you climb
- Loyalty tier match will match your status from other betting apps
Where FanDuel & DraftKings Stand Out:
- More free-to-play games/promos
- Promos centered around big events
- Unique types of promos outside of odds boosts
- DraftKings' 'King of the ____' series
- FanDuel's full game injury protection
FanDuel & DraftKings.
The daily promos are a big strength of Hard Rock Bet, but I still give the edge to the big two due to the creativity in promos beyond profit boosts. This was a very close call, and it is mostly a matter of preference for how you like to bet.
If you bet on a variety of sports and value betting app rewards programs, then you probably prefer Hard Rock Bet's promos. However, FanDuel & DraftKings are always pushing the needle with fun ways to get involved daily and offer much more value for big sporting events like the Super Bowl.
Betting Variety
Where Hard Rock Bet Stands Out:
- Easier to customize alt-lines
- Better E-sports coverage
Where FanDuel & DraftKings Stand Out:
- More novelty sports
- Deeper player prop markets
FanDuel & DraftKings.
While Hard Rock Bet is more than solid with the amount of sports & leagues offered (20 sports & over 200 leagues), FanDuel & DraftKings edge them out in those categories. It may vary sport to sport on which one offers more variety, but overall, the big two have more market depth. While most bettors aren't looking for extremely niche sports, the main reason I crown FanDuel & DraftKings in this category is due to the more extensive player props. They go beyond regular stats with markets like head-to-head matchups, combos, specials, and novelty props.
Mobile Experience
Where Hard Rock Bet Stands Out:
- Sleek design & fast navigation
- Less crowded layout
- Better color scheme/overall aesthetic
Where FanDuel & DraftKings Stand Out:
- Bottom tab dedicated to live betting
- Multiple products inside one app
- Built-in horse racing, lottery, prediction markets, etc
Hard Rock Bet.
To me, this is the main area where Hard Rock Bet really dominates. FanDuel & DraftKings have highly functional apps, but they simply have too much going on. With their companies doing so many different things, the apps have become overwhelming and a bit messy. Hard Rock Bet looks clean from the second you open it, has every button well organized, and makes navigation fast & simple. It's the most aesthetically pleasing betting app, which really enhances the experience. Function and looks both matter, and Hard Rock Bet excels in both.
Payment Options
Where Hard Rock Bet Stands Out:
- Credit cards as a deposit option
Where FanDuel & DraftKings Stand Out:
- Options Hard Rock is missing
- Gift cards
- Cash at retail
- Wire transfer
- PayNearMe (FanDuel)
- Prepaid Play + (FanDuel)
FanDuel & DraftKings.
This one isn't really a matter of opinion. FanDuel offers 9 deposit options, DraftKings has 7, and Hard Rock Bet has 5. It still has all of the most important ones, but is missing some of the more niche payment options. All of these betting apps use PayPal and Venmo, which are becoming more standard. Hard Rock Bet has quick transfers, but so do the big two. The extra options give them the edge.
Betting Experience
Where Hard Rock Bet Stands Out:
- Great stats hub feature
- Cleaner & more responsive betslip
- 'For You' feature helps customize experience
Where FanDuel & DraftKings Stand Out:
- More live streaming options
- Sort by trending players (FanDuel)
- Better live betting experience
Hard Rock Bet.
This one is a matter of quality over quantity. FanDuel & DraftKings have more features packed into their apps, but as mentioned before, having too much going on hurts the experience. Hard Rock really nails the special features it offers. It has the best stats hub, and is much more customizable overall. My favorite feature is the slider, which is under every player prop. The big two beat Hard Rock Bet in my live betting test, but Hard Rock Bet beat both in the same game parlay test. As one of the most important parts of the betting experience, I give the edge to the better SGP builder.
Customer Support
Where Hard Rock Bet Stands Out:
- Faster response times
- Easy to find in-app
- Better chatbot quality
Where FanDuel & DraftKings Stand Out:
- More thorough follow-up (FanDuel)
- Callback system (DraftKings)
Hard Rock Bet.
This was an easy one, since I have already done a customer support test of 10 betting apps. In that test, Hard Rock Bet came in at 4, while FanDuel & DraftKings ranked 6 and 7, respectively. The main factor in Hard Rock Bet winning this area is response time, which is one of the most important things in Customer Service. It also doesn't make you jump through any hoops. Of course, with so many more users, it makes sense why it'd be difficult for FanDuel & DraftKings to keep up.
Final Verdict
Coming into this comparison, I expected FanDuel and DraftKings to win comfortably. After all, they're the two biggest betting apps in the country for a reason. But after breaking down all six categories, Hard Rock Bet proved it belongs in the same conversation.
The final score ended up 3-3. FanDuel and DraftKings took Bonus Offers, Betting Variety, and Payment Options, while Hard Rock Bet won Mobile Experience, Betting Experience, and Customer Support.
What stood out most was that Hard Rock Bet wasn't winning categories because it was different. It was winning because it was genuinely better in areas that directly impact your day-to-day experience. The app is cleaner, easier to navigate, offers stronger customization, and provides faster customer support than the industry leaders.
That said, FanDuel and DraftKings still have advantages that come with being massive companies. They offer deeper betting markets, more payment flexibility, and some of the most creative promotions in the industry.
My biggest takeaway is that Hard Rock Bet shouldn't be viewed as a secondary option anymore. If you've only used FanDuel or DraftKings, Hard Rock Bet is absolutely worth trying. It may not outperform the big two overall, but it proves that it can go toe-to-toe with them and win in some of the areas that matter most.

Sports have always been a major part of my life. I played football and basketball, and I'm an avid golfer. My love for sports naturally led to a passion for sports betting, which I've been doing for 8 years. Initially, I relied on offshore bookies in Oregon, but since the approval of legitimate sites in 2022, I understand the importance of using reliable betting apps. As a strong advocate for smart sports betting, I aim to guide bettors in the right direction.
I hold a Writing degree from Oregon State and a journalism certificate from Palomar College.
