We Tested the Live Betting on 10 Apps: Here’s Who Stood Out
Live Betting is Important, so We Tested it.
Live betting is one of those things that sounds simple until you run into issues trying to do it.
Odds are moving every few seconds, markets are opening and closing, and if the app you’re using can’t keep up, you’re already behind before your bet even has a chance. The best betting apps feel smooth and fast in these moments, while others start to lag when you don't have time to waste.
Instead of just listing features, we wanted to see how these apps handle live betting when games are in progress. That means tracking odds movement, testing how easy it is to jump between markets, and seeing which apps make it easy to react in real time and which ones slow you down.
Because when it comes to live betting, factors like speed and usability matter just as much as the odds themselves.
How We Tested Live Betting Apps
To evaluate live betting across each app, we tracked multiple games in real time and focused on how each platform handled fast-moving situations.
Rather than just looking at available features, we paid attention to how the apps actually performed during live action. That included how quickly odds updated after key plays, how often markets locked or disappeared, and how smoothly you can build a live bet.
We also tested how easy it was to navigate between games and markets while everything was happening, along with how responsive each bet slip felt when building live wagers. This helped us understand which apps make it easy to react in the moment and which ones create friction when timing matters most.
Our Live Betting Scoring System
To compare each app fairly, we graded the live betting experience on a simple 1–10 scale across the categories below.
Live Betting Results Overview
How Each App Performed for Live Betting
After digging deeper into the results, we ranked each app based on its live betting performance. Here’s how they stack up from best to worst.
1. Bet365
Overall Score: 8.2/10
What Stood Out: For a long time on BettingApps.com, we have praised Bet365 for being the best app for live betting. Going into this test, I was curious to see if that still held true. It turns out, Bet365 remains the king of live betting apps. One of the best parts in the live betting tab is the favorites section, where you can add leagues or events to make sure you can find them with ease. It also shows popular live events, and the navigation is the best around. It's hard to find much fault with the live betting on Bet365.

2. Fanatics Sportsbook
Overall Score: 8.0/10
What Stood Out: Fanatics Sportsbook offers a lot of live streaming in the app, which is a huge plus for live betting. The live streaming is available for overseas leagues and niche sports like table tennis, so there is always something going on. The feature that stood out the most was the betslip, as it responds immediately to each leg you add. Speed of the betslip is an underrated aspect of live betting, since it helps you get bets in before odds change. The markets offered aren't too impressive, but it does the rest of live betting very well.

3. DraftKings Sportsbook
Overall Score: 7.8/10
What Stood Out: DraftKings claims to be the '#1 sportsbook for live betting,' and it certainly has an argument for that title. You won't find more markets within each sport elsewhere, with unique props that keep you in the action all game long. The main issue I have with DraftKings' live betting is that markets lock up for extended periods. It can be a bit tricky to build a live parlay when one of your legs is constantly locking up. However, the rest of it is so solid that I don't mind its claim of being the best for live betting, even if others slightly edge it out.

4. FanDuel Sportsbook
Overall Score: 7.6/10
What Stood Out: Being one of the most polished betting apps in the country, it's no surprise that FanDuel performs well for live betting. It offers some niche sports, has plenty of overseas leagues, and even eSports. The navigation from sport to sport is smooth, and betslips are easy to build. Markets within each sport are fairly limited, mostly just offering live spreads and over/unders, but a few sports, like baseball, have live player props such as live at-bat results.

5. theScore Bet
Overall Score: 7.4/10
What Stood Out: theScore Bet performs best when it comes to odds update speed. During live action, odds move quickly enough to keep pace with the game, which is one of the biggest things bettors want from a live betting app. It also does a solid job with market availability, giving users enough live options to stay engaged without feeling too bare bones. Where it falls a bit short is in the overall feel of the experience, as the bet slip, navigation, and market stability are all good rather than great. Even so, the fast-moving odds help theScore Bet stand out more than some of the apps around it.

theScore Bet
6. Hard Rock Bet
Overall Score: 7.2/10
What Stood Out: Hard Rock Bet stands out most with its bet slip and overall navigation. Both feel smooth and responsive, which makes it easy to build bets and move around the app during live action without getting slowed down. That matters more than you’d think when odds are constantly shifting. The rest of the experience is solid, with decent odds update speed and market stability that keeps things playable during games. Where it lags a bit is in market availability, as the live options aren’t quite as deep as some of the top apps. Still, the clean interface and reliable bet slip make it a comfortable option for live betting.

Hard Rock Bet
21+. New customers only. Offer available in AZ, CO, IL, IN, MI, NJ, OH, TN, or VA. Eligibility restrictions apply.

7. Caesars Sportsbook
Overall Score: 7.0/10
What Stood Out: Caesars holds up well in a couple of key areas, especially when it comes to market stability and bet slip performance. Markets tend to stay open more consistently than some other apps, and the bet slip responds quickly when building out wagers. That gives it a more reliable feel during live action. Odds update speed is solid but not standout, and market availability is a bit limited compared to the top apps. Navigation is where it struggles the most, as moving between games and markets can feel a bit clunky. Overall, it’s a steady option, but not one that really separates itself.

Caesars Sportsbook
21+ only. New customers only. Must use Promo Code BADYW.

8. BetMGM
Overall Score: 7.0/10
What Stood Out: BetMGM feels smooth to use during live betting, especially when it comes to navigation. Moving between games and markets is quick and straightforward, which helps when you’re trying to react in real time. It also does a good job with market stability, as odds stay available more consistently than some of the apps around it. Where it falls short is in odds update speed and overall market depth, as both feel a bit average compared to the top-tier options. The bet slip is solid and responsive, but not a major standout. Overall, it’s a steady, easy-to-use app that just doesn’t quite match the speed or variety of the best live betting platforms.

BetMGM

9. Bally Bet
Overall Score: 6.2/10
What Stood Out: Bally Bet is fairly easy to use, with navigation being one of its stronger points. Moving between games and markets feels smooth, which helps keep things simple during live action. It also offers a decent range of live markets, giving bettors enough options to work with. The biggest issue is market stability, as markets tend to lock more often and don’t always reopen as quickly as you’d like. Odds update speed and bet slip performance are both average, so while the app is easy to use, it can struggle to keep up when the game starts moving fast.

Bally Bet Sportsbook
21+. 1 per new customer. Offer available in AZ/CO/IN/IA/MD/MA/NJ/NY/OH/TN/VA. Eligibility restrictions apply.

10. BetRivers
Overall Score: 6.0/10
What Stood Out: BetRivers offers a solid amount of live betting markets, which helps it stay competitive in terms of overall availability. You’ll find a good mix of options across different sports, giving bettors more ways to stay involved during games. However, the app feels a step behind when it comes to speed. Odds don’t always update as quickly, and the bet slip can feel a bit sluggish when building wagers. Market stability and navigation are decent, but not standout. Overall, it’s a usable option, but it doesn’t quite match the pace or responsiveness of the top live betting apps.

BetRivers
21+. New customers only. Offer amount varies by state.

Final Verdict
Live betting is one of the biggest features across all betting apps, but the gap between the best and worst is pretty clear once you start paying attention.
At the top, apps like Bet365 and Fanatics Sportsbook stood out by keeping things fast and smooth when it mattered most. Odds updated quickly, bet slips responded instantly, and it was easy to move between markets without getting slowed down. When you’re trying to react in real time, those small details make a huge difference.
DraftKings and FanDuel also performed well overall, but each had noticeable flaws. DraftKings offers the deepest markets out there, but frequent market locks can make it tough to build live bets. FanDuel is one of the easiest apps to use, but its live markets can feel a bit limited compared to others near the top.
In the middle of the pack, apps like theScore Bet, Hard Rock Bet, Caesars, and BetMGM all had strengths, but none really separated themselves. Whether it was average odds speed, limited markets, or slightly clunky navigation, each one had something holding it back from the top tier.
At the bottom, Bally Bet and BetRivers struggled the most to keep up with live action. Both are usable, but slower odds updates, less reliable market availability, and weaker bet slip performance make them harder to trust when timing matters.
The biggest takeaway is simple. Live betting isn’t just about having markets available. It’s about how fast and smoothly you can actually place a bet while the game is happening. The best apps make that process feel effortless, while the rest make you work for it.
If live betting is something you plan on doing regularly, it’s worth sticking with the apps that can actually keep up.
Live Betting Test FAQs
Based on our testing, Bet365 remains the best overall app for live betting. It combines fast odds updates, strong market availability, and the smoothest navigation of any app we tested.
The best live betting apps focus on speed and usability. That includes:
- Fast odds updates
- Consistent market availability
- A responsive bet slip
- Easy navigation between games and markets
If an app struggles in any of these areas, it can be hard to place bets in real time.
Live betting odds adjust in real time based on what’s happening in the game. Big plays, scoring changes, or shifts in momentum can all impact the odds within seconds.
Markets temporarily lock while sportsbooks update odds after key moments in a game. Some apps handle this better than others, reopening markets quickly, while others stay locked longer and slow down the experience.
It depends on your style. Live betting gives you more flexibility to react to the game as it unfolds, while pregame betting offers more time to research and lock in odds. Many bettors use a mix of both.
